
ELSA: 2020 in review
This year we’ve all been on an incredible journey to empowering English learners around the world despite the challenges the world has faced. At ELSA, we end 2020 gratefully that we’ve been able to serve more than 11 million learners with a number of tentpole partnerships, awards, and key achievements we celebrate with our community.
Here are the highlights from this unprecedented year.
We have helped the community of 11 million awesome English learners across the world!

ELSA Speak app is now available in 9 different languages (with the latest addition, Korean🇰🇷). This helps us make English learning more accessible to a wider range of English learners around the world! The nine languages ELSA Speak app is localized into include: English, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai, Vietnamese.
COVID initiative continued education for K-12 students around the world. ELSA provided free access to Pro accounts for schools so they can continue educating their students during school closure.

ELSA Speak founder became an Endeavor entrepreneur in the 5th Virtual International Selection Panel.

ELSA was selected as an honoree in AI & Data category in FAST COMPANY WINNERS OF 2020 WORLD CHANGING IDEAS AWARDS!

Major feature launches helped our users with their journey to be fluent in English and have fun while they are at it. New features in 2020 include Your ELSA Score, Communities, UPenn module, Study Sets, and Linking Sound. Go to the ELSA app to check them out!

We launched ELSA VIP membership and announced ELSA in Real Life feature (coming in 2021). ELSA in Real Life lets you practice English words, phrases, and conversations in real life, and it was the most requested feature from our users!

In the last six months, we have seen exponential growth (700 %+) in Japan. We thank our amazing partners including Takafumi Horie, Summer sensei, Rupa sensei, Kanon for helping spread the word about the ELSA app to English learners in Japan!

Major partnership deals were signed in 2020 to push the global adoption of ELSA for Business forward. To name a few, IDP (owner of IELTS), IMAP, YOLA (both are among the most prominent private English language institutions in Vietnam), ATAD (leading steel structure company in South East Asia), Grab (biggest rideshare company in South East Asia), Shopee (leading online shopping in Indonesia), Pernod Ricard and Dokuz Eylül University (one of the largest universities in Turkey).
